Erzincan - Kemaliye Tour
Day 1: Trabzon – Erzincan – Girlevik Waterfall – Kemah – Kemaliye
Dear guests, after meeting at the designated points in the morning, we will begin our journey from Trabzon to Erzincan accompanied by Zağnos Tour guides. After an enjoyable 3–3.5-hour drive from the green nature of the Black Sea to the impressive geography of Eastern Anatolia, we arrive in Erzincan.
Our first stop is Girlevik (Çağlayan) Waterfall, one of Erzincan's most impressive natural beauties. We take a walk in this natural wonder created by cool waters cascading from high cliffs and have plenty of opportunities to take photos. Guests who wish to do so can stop for breakfast or tea at the facilities around the waterfall.
After visiting Girlevik, we head to the city center of Erzincan. Here, we stop for lunch at our restaurant, which offers local delicacies, and have the opportunity to taste Erzincan's famous meat kebab. After lunch, we head to the Copper Market to see the handmade products of copper craftsmen and have free time to shop for local products, especially Erzincan's unique tulum cheese.
After our city tour, we turn our route to the district of Kemah, which attracts attention with its historical texture. Here, we take a short break by visiting the Melik Gazi Tomb, known to have been built during the Mengücek Beylik period. After visiting the tomb, we travel along the Karasu River, one of the important tributaries of the Euphrates River, and head towards Kemaliye accompanied by unique views.
Before reaching Kemaliye, we head to the train station to experience one of the region's most enjoyable activities: the Erzincan–Kemaliye train journey. During this approximately 3-hour trip, we have the opportunity to admire the impressive views of the Euphrates Valley. Upon arrival in Kemaliye, we check into our hotel. Dinner and accommodation will be at our hotel in Kemaliye (Eğin). Guests who wish to do so can participate in the Eğin night, featuring local music and entertainment in the evening.
Day 2: Kemaliye – Dark Canyon – Apçağa Village – Trabzon
After breakfast at the hotel, we begin exploring this historic district, formerly known as Eğin, which was renamed Kemaliye during the Republican era at the suggestion of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Kemaliye, which stands out with its natural beauty, traditional architecture, and cultural heritage, is one of the important settlements nominated for the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Tentative List thanks to its preservation of its unique structure.
We start the day by visiting the Prof. Dr. Ali Demirsoy History and Nature Museum. Established with support from TÜBİTAK, this museum provides information about the region's natural life and scientific research. We then head to the Dark Canyon, considered one of the most impressive canyons in the world. During our boat tour on the Euphrates River, we have the opportunity to see the canyon's high cliffs and rich ecosystem up close.
After the boat trip, we visit the TaTuTa (Agriculture–Tourism–Exchange) Farm to learn about the region's natural life and sustainable agriculture. Following the farm tour, we walk through the narrow, historic streets of Kemaliye, getting a close-up look at the region's traditional stone and wood architecture.
