Pokut - Sal Plateau
Would you like to reconnect with nature, witness breathtaking views, and embark on an adventure above the clouds? Then we're setting our course for the foothills of the Kaçkar Mountains in the Çamlıhemşin district of Rize. The Pokut and Sal Plateaus tour is not just a trip; it is an authentic Black Sea experience that will relax your soul and remain etched in your memory.
Pokut Plateau: The Houses Closest to the Sky
At an altitude of 2050 meters, Pokut has made its name as the most intriguing and most photographed peak of the Fırtına Valley. Although getting here is a challenging adventure, the view you'll encounter when you reach the summit will be worth all your effort. These moments, when the clouds fill the valley and stretch out beneath you like an ocean, are a dream for photographers and nature lovers. The time you spend in Pokut offers you not only the chance to admire the scenery but also to experience the warm hospitality of the local people.
A Magical Transition from Pokut to Sal
After the majestic atmosphere of Pokut, we turn our route to the Sal Plateau, known as its "sister." The distance between these two plateaus is short, and the hiking trail is one of the most enjoyable routes in the region. This short journey through dense forest, accompanied by the scent of pine and fir trees, allows you to get up close and personal with the Black Sea's endemic flora.Sal Plateau: A Hidden Haven of Peace Sal Plateau is slightly lower and more sheltered than Pokut. This gives Sal a more tranquil, introverted, and authentic atmosphere. If what you seek is absolute silence and the sounds of nature, Sal Plateau is perfect for you.
The Black Sea is a geography that hides a different surprise around every bend, generously displaying a thousand shades of green. However, there is a place in the Çamlıhemşin district of Rize where, when you arrive, you feel as if you have stepped onto a secret balcony in the sky, rather than just a plateau. Sal Yaylası, at an altitude of 2070 meters, on the edge of a sea of clouds, awaits you with its fairy-tale wooden houses.
Why Sal Plateau?
The most important feature that distinguishes Sal Plateau from other plateaus is its unspoiled architectural fabric and the 360-degree panoramic view it offers. Compared to the popularity of its neighbor, Pokut Plateau, Sal Plateau promises visitors a unique sense of tranquility with its flatter terrain and more "naive" appearance.
1. The Sea of Clouds Phenomenon
Sal Yaylası's hallmark is undoubtedly its "sea of clouds" view. If you're lucky, you'll find yourself above the thick layer of fog settling on the valley floor. While an endless white ocean ripples beneath your feet, you can enjoy the sun and the clear blue sky. This moment is a priceless shot for photography enthusiasts.
2. Pokut and Kardeş Yayla
The Sal and Pokut plateaus are so close to each other that most travelers don't distinguish between the two. However, Sal has its own unique tranquility. From Pokut, you can reach Sal Plateau via a breathtaking 15-20 minute hike through pine forests. The oxygen filling your lungs during this walk will make you feel reborn.
3. Unique Sunset
This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful spots to watch the sunset on the Black Sea. As the sun sinks behind the Kaçkar Mountains, the sky is transformed into a palette of colors ranging from orange to purple. Swinging on Sal Yaylası's famous swing while taking in this view is the very definition of freedom.

Then, depending on the weather and trail conditions, we meet up with our guests and take a beautiful nature walk towards Sal Plateau. This walk takes about 30 minutes, and upon arrival, we give our guests free time. If we are lucky, we can see the Sea of Clouds. Guests who wish to can enjoy the taste of rice pudding while enjoying the free time and the beauty of nature.
After our free time, we arrive at Palovit Waterfall, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the region.
