SÜMELA MONASTERY + TRABZON CITY TOUR
Start Time: 10:30 AM
We begin our day at 10:30 AM, departing from Trabzon accompanied by our tour guide. Before the tour, we recommend that our guests purchase a Museum Card via the “Turkey’s Museums” mobile app to expedite entry procedures at Sümela Monastery.
Our first stop is Altındere National Park, located within the borders of the Maçka district. We’ll take a short break in this area, known for its lush greenery. Then, we’ll transfer to minibuses to reach Sümela Monastery. After the minibus ride, we’ll walk for about 10 minutes to reach the monastery.
We’ll tour Sümela Monastery, one of the Black Sea region’s most significant historical structures, accompanied by our guide. Perched on steep cliffs, this unique structure offers visitors unforgettable moments with its frescoes, views, and historical ambiance.
After our visit to Sümela, we begin our return journey to Trabzon.
Our next stop is Sera Lake in Akçaabat. At Sera Lake, a natural landslide-formed lake, we take a pleasant break while enjoying the lake views. Guests who wish to do so can take photos here or sip their tea.
We then head to the city center of Trabzon and visit the Hagia Sophia Mosque. Dating back to the 13th century, this historic structure stands out for its architecture and commanding view of the Black Sea.
Later in our tour, we visit the Atatürk Mansion. This mansion, where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk stayed during his visits to Trabzon, is one of the city’s most special spots with its elegant architecture and spacious gardens.
Our final stop is Boztepe. We take a tea break at this vantage point, where you can enjoy a bird’s-eye view of Trabzon. We relax and unwind, taking in one of the city’s most beautiful vistas.
We conclude our tour by arriving back in Trabzon around 6:30 PM.
